Project Background
Circuit breakers and relays are vital components ensuring the safety of electric locomotives. Accurate performance testing is essential for maintenance reliability. To address the issues of bulky, complex legacy testing equipment, a railway maintenance department commissioned TronixV to develop a handheld tester specifically designed for locomotive applications.
Leveraging extensive experience in railway electronics, TronixV led the complete development process — from structure and hardware design to algorithm optimization and on-site validation.
Technical Highlights
- Compact Integrated Design – Combines the detection module, control unit, and display system in a compact handheld form for fast on-site testing.
- Built-in Lithium Battery – Eliminates the need for external power; a single charge supports 8 hours of continuous operation.
- High-Precision Impedance Measurement – Utilizes dedicated measurement ICs and optimized algorithms to achieve 0.1% accuracy in resistance detection.
- High-Voltage Drive Capability – Features a stable high-voltage output module for precise testing of actuation and release voltages across standard locomotive components.
Services Provided
TronixV delivered end-to-end technical development, including concept design, hardware circuitry, embedded software programming, and measurement algorithm optimization.
The final product passed all customer validation tests and has been successfully deployed in railway depots, operating with high stability and reliability — marking the beginning of an ongoing, trusted collaboration.
